In our multiplication unit we will be learning different strategies for multiplying 2-digit numbers.
Please note that students do not have to master each strategy, but merely be familiar so that they can choose which strategy would be most effective for them for a given question.

Strategy 1 - Traditional Method
This is the method most parents should be most familiar with. Watch the video below to review this strategy.
What this video doesn't show is what happens if we have to "regroup". An example where we have to regroup is shown here:

Method 2 - Partial Products
I personally really enjoy this method as it promotes a better understanding of what you are multiplying. You must realize that you are multiplying either in the tens or ones place value and determine how many zero's are necessary from there.
