Right now our students are working on patterning! We have discussed and solved problems that have increasing and decreasing patterns, in both numbers and pictures. We have worked particularly hard at writing down proper patterning rules using the following format:
"The pattern starts at ______ and increases/decreases by ______ each time."
We showed our knowledge of patterns by creating math games that focused on the use of patterns.

We are now beginning to look at very basic algebra, which does tend to terrify students at first. We will be taking things slowly and going through many examples, but if you find your child is really struggling with the idea of having "letters" in math then please be sure to let me know! We can set up extra help or work on strategies to ease their minds!
You can also try playing these games at home for extra practice!
